POSTPONED – Sang Matiz @ 6th Street PH Concert Series

New performance to be scheduled in 2024

Sang Matiz, a Bay Area-based and female-led powerhouse band, has garnered a reputation for enlivening audiences with their insatiable World and Afro-Latin beats, fusing Tropical elements with touches of Funk. With musical finesse, they’ve perfected a unique combination of styles that weaves catchy, syncopated melodies with flamenco-infused guitar licks.  Sang Matiz takes you on a journey of cultural expression with an exciting blend of rhythms full of passion, energy, and wild creativity!

Thanks to a grant awarded by The California Arts Council Endowment for the Arts and The San Francisco Arts Commission for Cultural Equity, they released the album “Ship It!” and are currently in production of their second album.  In August 2015, they were honored to open for the legendary Cuban band Buena Vista Social Club Orchestra on their final “Adios Tour,” followed by 2016 invitation to share a stage with the eclectic and distinguished LA-based band, Ozomatli.  Throughout the years, they’ve also collaborated with various renowned Bay Area musicians such as: Grammy Award-winners Christian Pepin (Master Percussionist), Mario Alberto Silva (Master Trumpeter), and Braulio Barrera (Pacific Mambo Orchestra), among many other national and global acts as Jorge Santana (Malo) and Pete Escovedo.

Yuriza Jared shines as the band’s lead with her original music compositions and lyrics. Her father discovered her talents as a musical prodigy at the young age of 5 years-old when she first picked up a mandolin, and then the charango and guitar. She quickly developed and showcased her skills by joining theater performances all around Peru. At age 6, she was recruited by the conservatory of Lima to further develop guitar playing and music, which soon after led to touring internationally.
