Scholarship Fund Donations

WHY DONATE?

Theater students are an extraordinary combination of the introverted, the extroverted, the visual artists, musicians, carpenters, performers; everyone has a place in the theater.

6th Street Studio is an inclusive space where community, confidence, creativity and character are built. A donation to 6th Street Studio is a donation to our community’s creative heartbeat. Help a child discover their voice, grant a teen the chance to build something they can see on stage, and give your neighbor, your local grocer, or your great aunt a place to PLAY again with your donation to 6th Street Studio!

Colby Rivara Scholarship Fund
Donations to the Colby Rivara Scholarship Fund will provide tuition support for students in need.

This scholarship fund is dedicated to the memory of Colby Rivara, who passed away in 2021 at the age of 19. From a young age, Colby demonstrated an intense passion for the arts, from teaching himself to play the electric guitar, to developing his scenic carpentry skills at the Windsor High Nueva School of the Arts.

In the winter of 2020, he volunteered his time at the 6th Street Playhouse as part of his senior project, and under the wing of our technical director, he helped to build sets for both the productions of Oliver! and Sweeney Todd. Among many other things, Colby loved theater for its inclusion of all people, and its tendency to make everyone feel as though they belonged.

The 6th Street Studio is proud that this memorial fund carries his name and will direct all donations toward sponsoring families in our programs who cannot afford them.”

Here’s What Scholarship Families are Saying about Us!

“Being in the production gave them both a boost of confidence and joy. They formed great friendships, and really enjoyed the director who expected them to bring their best forward.”

“6th Street Studio is such an amazing place for players of all ages. Sign up already — you won’t regret it.”

“The theater is by far the best thing William has done/is doing. Thank you for allowing him this opportunity. It means everything to us!”

“Because of the theater, he is so confident and is comfortable collaborating with people of all ages and is improving his focus and creativity — and best of all, he’s having the time of his life doing it.”

“I am very grateful that during a serious financial crisis, you guys were generous enough to allow my girls to participate. Disappointing them by saying they had to sit it out would have broken my heart (and their hearts). Thank you.”
