Cabaret

opens September 15

GK Hardt Theater
music by John Kander
lyrics by Fred Ebb
book by Joe Masteroff
“One of history’s darkest moments, and a bright, unforgettable production – one of Broadway’s best-known pieces of theatre.” —Colin Douglas, Chicago Theatre Review
Join the debauched emcee of the seedy KitKat club and cabaret performer Sally Bowles, in this intimate look inside the hedonistic nightlife that flourished in Weimar-era Berlin.
Winner of countless awards, and with some of the best tunes ever written by Kander and Ebb, Cabaret stunned the world in 1966 when it debuted. And it still packs a powerful punch – maybe even more so now that the world is in a similarly dark place, with political division and the threat of war hanging over our heads.

You’ll love the guys and gals at the KitKat club, whose antics are overseen by the decadent emcee. Sally Bowles, an iconic figure in modern literature, uses her frivolous disinterest in politics as an excuse to ignore the encroaching horror.

But while she dreams of love and fulfillment, she never finds them. Great music and choreography, and an unforgettable story.
