2021- 22 SEASON GENERAL AUDITIONS
We are currently accepting only video auditions submitted via email for our Season Generals.
What you need to prepare (memorized, rehearsed)
For all roles:
- 2 contrasting monologues not to exceed 1 minute each that best demonstrate your qualities as an actor.
In addition, if you wish to be considered for musicals:
- 32 bars of any song of your choice. You may choose a song from the actual musical for which you wish to be considered.
- Please state your name at the beginning of the video.

CALLBACKS: If we need to have you come to the theatre for an in-person callback, we will contact you to schedule a time slot for you during these days and times:
Saturday, May 22 — 11am – 9pm
Sunday, May 23 —- 1pm – 9pm
Monday, May 24—– 5pm – 9pm
(In-person callbacks will be conducted in accordance with County and State health protocols to ensure the health and safety of all. Actors who are called back will be required to show proof of vaccination or a recent negative Covid test.)

Casey — Elvis impersonator, down on his luck. Must do a very good Elvis impersonation and
perform in drag as “Georgia McBride”.
Miss Tracy Mills— Older, veteran drag queen, 30-50’s. Must move really well and be convincing as a professional drag queen.
All singing is lip-synced.

A RAISIN IN THE SUN – Monroe Stage
March 3 – March 20, 2022
Synopsis: Set on Chicago’s South Side, the plot revolves around the divergent dreams and conflicts within three generations of the Younger family: son Walter Lee, his wife Ruth, his sister Beneatha, his son Travis, and family matriarch Lena, called Mama. When her deceased husband’s insurance money comes through, Mama dreams of moving to a new home and a better neighborhood in Chicago. However, her son Walter Lee, a chauffeur, has other plans.
Casting for all roles (except 1) is: Black / African Descent
Walter Lee Younger – Male 30-40
The protagonist of the play; Walter is a dreamer; he wants to be rich and devises plans to acquire wealth with his friends, particularly Willy Harris; when the play opens, he wants to invest his father’s insurance money in a new liquor store venture.
Beneatha Younger (“Benne”) Female 19-25
Mama’s daughter and Walter’s sister; Beneatha is an intellectual; twenty years old, she attends college and is better educated than the rest of the Younger family; some of her personal beliefs and views have distanced her from conservative Mama.
Lena Younger (“Mama”) Female 55-65
Walter and Beneatha’s mother; the matriarch of the family, Mama is religious, moral, and maternal; she wants to use her husband’s insurance money as a down payment on a house with a backyard to fulfill her dream for her family to move up in the world.
Ruth Younger, Female 29-37
Walter’s wife and Travis’s mother; Ruth takes care of the Youngers’ small apartment; her marriage to Walter has problems, but she hopes to rekindle their love; she is about thirty, but her weariness makes her seem older.
Travis Younger, Male 9-12
Walter and Ruth’s sheltered young son; Travis earns some money by carrying grocery bags and likes to play outside with other neighborhood children, but he has no bedroom and sleeps on the living-room sofa.

a Nigerian student in love with Beneatha, Asagai is very proud of his African heritage, and Beneatha hopes to learn about her African heritage from him.

REAL WOMEN HAVE CURVES – Monroe Stage
May 12 – 29, 2022
ANA: 18, sister of Estela, daughter of Carmen. She is a recent high school graduate and a young feminist who wants to go to college but doesn’t have the money. She’s stuck in the factory helping out her sister.
ESTELA: 34, owner of the “Garcia Sewing Factory,” a hopeless romantic at heart, but a hard worker.
CARMEN: 50, mother of Ana and Estela. She has a talent for storytelling and gossip.
PANCHA: 32, very mellow in her ways, but quick with her tongue, very Catholic and traditional at times.
ROSALI: 29, sweet, and easygoing, but has a secret and is insecure about her looks.
This play takes place over a week in September in 1987, in a cramped sweat-shop sewing factory of Estela, the 34-year old undocumented owner. There are five actors: Estela, the owner; Carmen, her mother; Ana, her sister; Pancha and Rosali, two friends/workers.
The play deals with the tension to finish an order of dresses by week’s end, as well as the women’s struggle to understand their immigration status, relationships, sex lives, and financial situations. The women, according to the playwright, must be played by actresses of many shapes and sizes, often performing in their undergarments.
The entire cast must be bilingual, English and Spanish.

Judy Bernly is a meek housewife, engaged in her first foray into the working world, when her husband runs off with his secretary.
Age: 30 to 35
Roz Keith is the office busybody. She is in love with Mr. Hart, and does everything she can to undermine the rest of the office to earn his affections. Over-the-top comedic role.
Age: 35 to 45
Charming, attractive accountant who is interested in Violet. Tenor. Doubles in the Men’s Ensemble.
Age: 25 to 35
Doralee’s husband. Country. Doubles in the Men’s Ensemble.
Hart’s Wife. Fluttery and Ditzy. Doubles in the Women’s Ensemble.
Franklin Hart’s wife, clueless to her husband’s true nature.
Violet’s teenage son. Must look young enough to pass as a teenager, but old enough to double in the Men’s Ensemble.
Judy’ sleazy ex-husband. Doubles as the detective.
Franklin Hart’s Yes-Man. Also trained by Violet and promoted over her. Also doubles as the cop.
Young and vibrant secretary. Gets wrongfully fired by Hart.
Chairman of the Board of the company. Colonel Sanders type
Office Gossip. Doubles in the Women’s Ensemble.
Office lush. Doubles in the Women’s Ensemble.

Amber and Tom, finding their way as freshmen at Princeton, spend a night together that alters the course of their lives. They agree on the drinking, they agree on the attraction, but consent is not clear…..
AMBER – early -mid 20’s, high-strung, talkative, charmingly neurotic.
She does not present as insecure. She is Jewish.
TOM— early – mid 20’s, appealing and confident with some swagger that conceals a deeper vulnerability. He is African-American.
