Experience The Bard from Behind the Scenes!

Does your teen LOVE theater, but could hardly imagine themselves onstage to perform? If so, then Stagecraft is for them! In this three week summer intensive, students will join breakout sessions to learn about the many technical elements that go into putting on a show–scenery, props, lighting, sound, stage management, costumes, and more! And it doesn’t stop there: students will also gain hands-on experience by helping to design these very elements of our summer Teen Players production, As You Like It, and by acting as the Run Crew for each of their live shows. Stagecraft is for the Lego builders, the class doodlers, the incredible playlist-makers, and anyone who’s ever wanted to dive deeper into backstage life!

About Taub’s As You Like It: Just as he discovers he is love-struck by the beautiful Rosalind, Orlando is driven out of the kingdom by the dictatorial Duke Frederick and forced to seek asylum in the Forest of Arden. Soon thereafter, Rosalind and cousin Celia are also banished and, fearing for their safety, decide to disguise themselves as men before venturing into the wood. Once there, the three refugees find acceptance amongst the castaways and their leader, the benevolent Duke Senior.

6th Street Studio Policies

Attendance and Conflicts: Attending all rehearsals is vitally important to the outcome of this show, no matter what role your child is given. Even a single absence could affect blocking, line memorization and performance preparedness. We ask that students be committed to attend all rehearsals, unless they are sick. Attendance is mandatory for tech week and performances.

Payment Plan: If you do not want to pay the full balance up front, you may elect to pay a $105 deposit to hold your spot in the class. The remaining balance will be due before the first class session begins.

Refund Policy: Tuition will be refunded in full minus a $35 administrative fee if received in writing two weeks prior to the start of rehearsal. Cancellations received in writing with less than two weeks notice will receive a 50% discount unless the spot can be filled; in which case tuition will be refunded in full minus the $35 administrative fee. No refunds will be made once class begins.

Scholarships: If you would like to apply for a scholarship, please complete the registration form and pay the deposit to hold your slot in the class. We will contact you with the result of your application before class begins. If you choose NOT to enroll, regardless of the outcome of your application, your deposit (minus a $35 administrative fee) will be returned to you.

Mask & Vaccine Policies

Attending Rehearsals: Masks are strongly recommended, but not required. During rehearsals, and especially as we get closer to performances, ANY illness may result in the inability to participate in rehearsal and/or performances. If your child has cold symptoms, nausea or a fever we ask you to keep them home.

If your child becomes ill with COVID and is asymptomatic: isolation is NOT REQUIRED before returning to class.

If your child becomes ill with COVID and develops symptoms: an isolation period of at least 24 hours is required. Your child may return to class after 24 hours if they no longer have a fever (without the use of fever-reducing medications) and if their symptoms are improving.

We currently do not require your child to be vaccinated to participate.

Attending Performances: As of September 13, 2022, proof of vaccination for Covid-19 is no longer required. Masks continue to be highly recommended, but not required to attend.
