2022-2023 Season

Smart People
May 11 – 28, 2023 – It seems that issues of self-awareness, identity, and race are stumbling blocks that even “smart people” can’t seem to avoid.

Always…Patsy Cline
March 30 – April 30, 2023 – Always…Patsy Cline is based on a true story about a friendship between a housewife and a legendary country singer, that lasted until Cline’s untimely death in a plane crash in 1963. Created and originally directed by Ted Swindley based on a true story.

A Raisin in the Sun
March 2 – 26, 2023 – A Pulitzer Prize- winning play about the experiences of a black working class family living in south Chicago.

Little Shop of Horrors
January 26 – February 26, 2023 – A deviously delicious Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi smash musical, Little Shop Of Horrors has devoured the hearts of theater-goers for over 30 years.

A Year with Frog and Toad
January 7-29, 2023 – Based on characters from Arnold Lobel’s series of childrens’ books, A Year with Frog and Toad is song and dance at its best.

Scrooge in Love
November 25 – December 24, 2022 – A Christmas Carol sequel? Turns out, one year after Scrooge’s redemption, his ghosts have a new goal for him—to find love!

The River Bride
November 3 – 27, 2022 – Three days before a wedding, a handsome and mysterious man is fished from the Amazon River. Set once upon a time in a small Brazilian fishing village, The River Bride is a tale of true love, regret and two sisters who struggle to be true to each other and their hearts.

Cabaret
September 15 – October 16, 2022 – Join the debauched emcee of the seedy KitKat club and cabaret performer Sally Bowles, in this intimate look inside the hedonistic nightlife that flourished in Weimar-era Berlin.

Pride and Prejudice
August 11-September 4, 2022 – A rapturous romantic comedy, propelled by Austen’s sparkling characters and blazing wit.
2021-2022 Season

9 to 5, The Musical
Think back to the time when women were just entering the workforce in large numbers, armed with shoulder pads, perms and pant suits, hopes and expectations. 9 to 5 is a tale of three such women.

Real Women Have Curves
The story is set in a small sewing factory in East Los Angeles, owned by a 34-year-old undocumented immigrant in danger of losing her sewing equipment, as she struggles to make the payments and avoid deportation.

Hank Williams: Lost Highway
While Lost Highway gives you the exhilarating feeling of Hank in a particular place on a particular night, by the end of the show you’ll have taken a profound emotional journey.

’tis the season to be Barbara
After the success of her New Year’s Jazztacular, Barbara returns to 6th Street Playhouse! And this time, she’s sliding down your chimney with a sackful of holiday tunes and unbelievable showbiz tales – for a one-of-a-kind Christmas cabaret: ‘Tis the Season to Be Barbara!

Scrooge in Love
When we last left Ebenezer Scrooge, the grumpy old miser had become a loving, generous, kind human being with the aid of four ghosts who visited him one Christmas Eve, each teaching him valuable lessons.

Hair
An eloquent requiem not only for the idealism of one generation but also for the evanescence of youth itself. Revelatory and exuberant, this American tribal-love rock musical provides a vivid, affectionate look at the flower children of the ’60s.

Vincent
Vincent’s brother Theo enters with a case of many letters the two had exchanged for years. Vincent, at age 37, has just died. Rumors are running rampant—he’s destitute, a madman, a patron of prostitutes, an artist of trifling talent!

The Legend of Georgia McBride
Picture this: You’re barely making it as an Elvis impersonator in a run-down dive. You splurge on a pizza, your rent check bounces, again, and your wife’s pissed. Then she announces, “I’m pregnant!”

Murder for Two
With its blend of Agatha Christie-like intrigue, vaudeville, slapstick and two terribly talented actors—not to mention a piano, this noir-ish tale delivers a ridiculously fun farce.

Love, Loss and What I Wore
Remember the outfit that made your mother cringe? The chronic conundrum of ‘nothing to wear!’ The perennial ‘It’ll fit as soon as I lose 10 pounds’ chant? The endless joy that perfect black turtleneck can bring?
