6th Street Playhouse Studio Presents Elf the Musical, Jr!

Date: October 30, 2023

Following its successful limited run of Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka KIDS, the 6th Street Studio continues its season with its production of Elf the Musical, Jr. Side-splittingly hilarious and outrageously charming, Elf the Musical, Jr is an abbreviated adaptation of the 2010 Broadway hit musical, which is itself a reimagining of the 2003 Will Ferrell comedic film.

With book by Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin, and music and lyrics by Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin, this familiar tale follows Buddy the Elf on his worldwide journey of self-discovery. An orphan child, Buddy mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts one Christmas Eve and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father. Faced with the harsh reality that his father is on the naughty list and that his half-brother doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Elf the Musical, Jr is performed by the 6th Street Studio’s Teen Players, a group of 20 budding actors between the ages of 12 and 18 who portray all the roles in this production. The show also benefits from the assistance of the Studio’s Stagecraft class, which consists of 10 more teens who serve as the production’s run crew, and who all receive hands-on training in technical theater.
