6th Street Studio Presents MONTY PYTHON’S SPAMALOT YOUNG@PART!

Date: February 24, 2024

Kicking off their Spring 2024 session, the 6th Street Studio will present the outrageously funny and perfectly irreverent MONTY PYTHON’S SPAMALOT YOUNG@PART this coming April on the Monroe Stage!

With book and lyrics by Eric Idle, and music by Eric Idle and John du Prez, the comedic genius of Spamalot will be recognizable to anyone who has seen the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The play opens on England in the year 932 A.D. In the midst of a plague-ravaged kingdom, King Arthur and his servant Patsy are gathering all the land’s brave (and the not-so-brave) knights in a God-given quest for the Holy Grail. Things don’t go quite as smoothly as they’d hoped, though…along the way, they’re stopped by English guards, French taunters, enchanters, killer rabbits, several knights who say “ni!”, and precisely one Lady of the Lake. Can the knights ultimately find what they seek?

The 2005 Broadway production of SPAMALOT won three Tony® Awards, including Best Musical, and was followed by two successful West End runs. Outrageous, uproarious, and gloriously entertaining, the characters in this classic Python tale are bound to enchant audiences as they remind us to “always look on the bright side of life.”

Monty Python’s Spamalot young@part is performed by the 6th Street Studio’s Teen Players, who for the first time will take their talents to the intimate 99-seat Monroe Stage. This collection of 29 budding actors between the ages of 12 and 18 will portray all the roles in this production, from knights to guards to snooty Frenchmen.

This third production in the Studio’s 2023-24 season is co-directed by David Bradbury and Seth Dahlgren, who between them have decades of experience in the theater industry. Spamalot will be Dahlgren’s debut show with the Studio, while at the same time marking Bradbury’s sixth production as Teaching Artist. Bradbury also serves as the 6th Street Playhouse’s Artistic Associate. The production will also be choreographed by 6th Street’s Education Director Jonathen Blue (Willy Wonka KIDS), and it will be music directed by Armando Ramos (Willy Wonka KIDS, James and the Giant Peach Jr).
