6th Street Playhouse To Produce February Family Fun
Cameron Mackintosh & Disney’s Mary Poppins
SANTA ROSA, CA (January 14, 2026) – 6th Street Playhouse will bring family-friendly magic to the GK Hardt Theater this February with Cameron Mackintosh & Disney’s Mary Poppins, the Tony Award–winning musical based on the stories of P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film. Created by the same artistic team that delighted audiences with The Pirates of Penzance, this production runs from February 6 through March 7, 2026, and promises a high-flying theatrical experience for audiences of all ages.
“It’s a roof-raising, toe-tapping, high-flying extravaganza.“
— Joe Dziemianowicz, New York Daily News
Drawing from P.L. Travers’ books and the classic Disney film, Cameron Mackintosh & Disney’s Mary Poppins is a joyful stage celebration for the whole family. Through music, imagination, and heart, Mary teaches Jane and Michael Banks—and their parents—that kindness, curiosity, and connection matter most, opening a world where “anything can happen if you let it.”
Audiences first fell in love with Mary Poppins in the 1964 film starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, which earned 13 Academy Award nominations and won five, including Best Score. That magic was later brought to the stage by legendary producer Cameron Mackintosh in partnership with Disney Theatrical, featuring beloved songs by the Sherman Brothers, new music by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, and a book by Oscar winner Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey). Premiering in England in 2004 before delighting audiences in London and on Broadway, Cameron Mackintosh & Disney’s Mary Poppins became one of Broadway’s longest-running musicals..
Director Emily Lynn Cornelius, music director Les Pfutzenreuter and choreographer Jonathen Blue (the creative team behind the high-energy production of The Pirates of Penzance) reunite to bring their signature blend of theatrical spectacle, musical precision and joyful storytelling to the beloved family musical. Known for delivering big laughs, memorable music and imaginative staging, the team now trades swashbuckling pirates for chimney sweeps, flying nannies and a spoonful of sugar, promising a magical experience for audiences of all ages.
