Experience The Singular Sensation of A Chorus Line! 6th Street Playhouse to Present the Most Famous Tryout in Musical Theatre
SANTA ROSA, CA (July 30, 2025) – From the first high-kick to the final bow, A Chorus Line is a dazzling celebration of the grit, vulnerability, and passion it takes to make it on Broadway. Featuring an unforgettable score by Marvin Hamlisch, it remains one of Broadway’s most iconic and heartfelt tributes to the performers who give it their all for a chance to shine. Under the direction of Lorenzo Alviso, with music direction by Ginger Beavers and choreography by Hannah Woolfenden, Tajai Jaxon Britten (Clyde’s), Bridget Codoni (My Fair Lady), Ella Park (White Christmas) and other local stars shine on 6th Street Playhouse’s GK Hardt stage from August 29 – September 28, 2025.
“…one of Broadway’s all-time greats, with more kick than most other shows combined.”
– Time Out New York
A Chorus Line is the electrifying Broadway musical that follows 17 dancers vying for a spot in the ensemble of a new show. As the audition unfolds on a bare stage, the performers reveal their deepest fears, hopes, and memories, turning a tryout into a raw, intimate look at the lives behind the spotlight. With iconic numbers like “What I Did for Love,” “At the Ballet,” and “One,” this groundbreaking musical captures the thrill of chasing a dream and the cost of giving everything to achieve it.
Conceived, directed, and choreographed by Michael Bennett, with a book by James Kirkwood Jr. and Nicholas Dante, music by Marvin Hamlisch, and lyrics by Edward Kleban, the 1975 show was revolutionary for its structure, storytelling, and emotional honesty. It won nine Tony Awards, four Drama Desk Awards, three Obie Awards, and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. It ran a record-breaking 6,137 performances at Broadway’s Schubert Theatre and remains one of Broadway’s most iconic and influential musicals.
Directing A Chorus Line on its 50th Anniversary is a dream come true for Lorenzo Alvizo, who brings a fresh, emotionally charged perspective to this Broadway classic. Music direction is by Ginger Beavers, who guides the cast through Marvin Hamlisch’s intricate and glorious score, and Hannah Woolfenden provides dynamic choreography that pays homage to Michael Bennett’s original vision while making it uniquely their own.
